LAKHIMPUR: The Lakhimpur District Secondary Additional (Contractual) Teachers' Association resorted to agitational programme from Monday demanding the release of their unpaid salary by Magh Bihu.

Notably, a total of 306 teachers working in 144 schools under the district are yet to get their salary for the last four months. As a result of it, the teachers have found it severely difficult to make their both ends meet. They have to suffer a lot while maintaining their families and managing their day-to-day expenditure. Further, the imminent expenditure in connection to the celebration of upcoming Magh Bihu festival has added insult to their injuries.

Regarding the demand, the 306 Secondary Additional (Contractual) teachers of Lakhimpur district have boycotted their regular classes from Monday until the release of their salary.

By initiating the same agitational programme, the organization has demanded the State Government to release the salary of the teachers concerned in the first week of every month and to implement each and every section of the notification issued by the government on August 13, 2020, including the revised scale-pay of the teachers. On the other hand, the organization has tendered apology to the parents and guardians of the students for the agitational programme.
