Basistha Police arrested health worker for demanding money from COVID patient in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Basistha Police arrested a health worker identified as Kapil Borgohain on Saturday.

According to police, Borgohain demanded money via phone from one COVID-19 patient identified as Probin Rajbonshi who is currently under medical supervision lodged at Sarusajai COVID Care Centre.

Notably, Borgohain demanded money to not stick the COVID-19 bill at the residence of Probin Rajbonshi.

It is to be mentioned here that the matter came to light after the audio clip of the telephonic conversation went viral on social media.

Meanwhile, acting on the viral clip, Kamrup (M) district commissioner, Biswajit Pegu directed two of the magistrates to conduct an enquiry into the matter.

Further as per the enquiry, a case was filed against the health worker.
