GUWAHATI: "Candidates of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and United People's Party Liberal (UPPL) will win in the bye-elections in the five LACs," said Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president and State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora while talking to The Sentinel on Tuesday.

Bye-elections will be held on October 30, 2021 in 5 LACs – Mariani, Gossaigaon, Bhabanipur, Thowra and Tamulpur. Bora further said, "People of the State want development. They have seen development and transparency in governance during the rule of the present State Government led by Himanta Biswa Sarma. Public services have been simplified. There is no scope for any delaying tactics now. There are many government schemes in the pipeline. When these are implemented people will reap the benefits."

"As alliance partner, AGP leaders and workers are supporting and campaigning for BJP and UPPL candidates in the five LACs. AGP working president Keshab Mahanta and I, along with other party leaders, have been campaigning for BJP-UPPL candidates," he added.

In the forthcoming bye-election, BJP has fielded candidates in three LACs – Mariani, Thowra and Bhabanipur– while UPPL has fielded candidates in two LACs – Gossaigaon and Tamulpur.
