Border Security Force jawan held for kidnap bid in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: One Sudhangshu Kumar, a Border Security Force (BSF) jawan hailing from Bihar, was arrested on Monday from a school at Maligaon here for allegedly attempting to kidnap a student.

According to police sources, the incident occurred at the Maligaon Lower Primary School when Kumar tried to kidnap the student from the school premises. However, the BSF jawan was apprehended outside the school premises by some local people and handed over to the Jalukbari police, who arrested him.

The school authority has filed an FIR in this regard.

According to the sources, Kumar is posted at the 28th BSF Battalion at Tura, Meghalaya. He had arrived at the Kamakhya Railway Station here on Sunday.

The sources said that the police suspect the involvement of a woman in the incident along with the jawan.

The police has informed BSF officials about the incident.
