GUWAHATI: The Brahmin community has expressed resentment for not including Brahmin community chapters in Classes IX and X's Boichitramoi Asom. The Boichitramoi Asom is a rapid reader book in classes IX and X that is prepared by SEBA (Board of Secondary Education) and published by the Assam State Textbook Production and Publication Corporation Limited.
According to All India Brahmin Front (AIBF) and Assam State Committee General Secretary Pabitra Kumar Sarma, to get along and know about the various tribes of Assam with its neighbouring states, Boichitramoi Asom has included a chapter on it so that students can be made aware of it. But the culture, customs, rituals, and practices of the Brahmin community are not included. The existence of sages, ascetics, and Brahmins has been documented since the Vedic age, but nothing is mentioned regarding that. Their food habits, literature, roles, and rites should have been mentioned, and it is necessary to do this for the benefit of the students. In Assam, whether it is political, cultural, or economic, the participation of Brahmins is always on full display.
The Brahmin community poses the question if there are insights from other tribes or communities, why not the Brahmins? So they demand in this regard that SEBA should apologize to the Brahmin community for such negligence, and should include Brahmin chapters as soon as possible in the rapid reader book.
