CBI to probe alleged GPF fraud by SSB ex-officer

GUWAHATI: An Inspector General of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Bhanu Upadhyay, has lodged an FIR with the Anti-Corruption Branch of the CBI here and accused a former Assistant Commandant of the paramilitary force, Baldev Sharma of embezzling an amount of Rs 15,18,598 via a fraudulent claim pertaining to the General Provident Fund (GPF).

The FIR (No. 4/SSB/VC/2O2\/4(0412I42) accused Baldev Sharma of using forged documents and misusing his official position to embezzle the money with the help of unidentified accomplices.

A case has been registered and the matter is under investigation, CBI sources said.
