GUWAHATI: Chandraprabha Devi, a retired officer of the Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) Namrup and a resident of Jilika Path in Panjabari, passed away at a private hospital here on Friday evening after suffering a major stroke a few days ago.
One of the first few employees when the Namrup Fertilizer factory was started in the early 1960s, she had earlier served at the Dibrugarh Court before shifting to Namrup in 1963. Her husband Surendra Nath Sarmah, also a former officer of BVFCL Namrup, had predeceased her a few years ago.
Chandraprabha Devi, whose last rites were performed at the Navagraha Cremation Ground on Saturday, leaves behind a daughter, two sons and a host of relatives and friends.
