CM Himanta launches 83 new BLS ambulances for Mritunjoy service

GUWAHATI: In a major boost to the existing emergency medical health services, Assam's Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday flagged off 83 new Basic Life Support (BLS) Ambulances into the 108 Mrityunjoy fleet of the State. The fleet was part of 150 new BLS ambulances that will be inducted in a phased manner. There are a total of 800 ambulances at present.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister lauded the services of 108 Mrityunjoy and said that they have been providing important services to the people of Assam by responding to emergency health situations. The induction of additional 150 ambulances will further augment this service.

The launch was done from the Janata Bhawan here in the presence of Health & Family Welfare Minister Keshab Mahanta, departmental Principal Secretary Avinash Joshi, Mission Director of the National Health Mission, Assam MS Lakshmi Priya, Executive Director of NHM, Assam Manoj Kumar Choudhury, and representatives from GVK EMRI and Tata Motors.
