GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated a solid waste management project at the premises of Kamakhya Devalaya atop the Nilachar Paher here on Friday.

After the programme, the CM tweeted, "I'm glad to have inaugurated a solid waste-management plant at Maa Kamakhya Devalaya, set up under the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'. This will bolster efforts to keep the Shaktipeeth clean while turning waste into compost.

He also sought Maa Kamakhya's blessings for peace, prosperity & well-being of all.

Mentionably on the occasion, the CM also virtually joined PM Narendra Modi's historic unveiling of the 12-feet statue of Adi Shankaracharya and the inauguration of the 'Samadhi' of Adi Shankaracharya at Kedarnath in Uttarakhand.

CM tweeted, "Modiji's initiative to restore & redevelop the area surrounding Kedarnath shrine, which was damaged by floods in 2013, would facilitate easy movement of devotees of Lord Shiva at this iconic pilgrimage site."
