CM Sarbananda Sonowal reviews welfare schemes for tea community

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Saturday held a meeting with the representatives of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha at Assam Administrative Staff College and reviewed the implementation status of various welfare schemes of the State government for the tea community. Chairing the meeting, he said that the State government has been taking initiatives for the development of education, health and other sectors concerning the tea community since 2016.

Calling on the members of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha to spread the message of different government schemes at the grassroots for the benefit of the community, the Chief Minister informed that the State government has taken steps for conducting a survey of the ceiling surplus lands in the tea gardens. He urged the ACMS to cooperate with the State government to foil the evil designs of vested interest groups who have been trying to spread misinformation regarding the land survey. A monitoring group would soon be constituted to check all such activities, he said.

Speaking at the meeting, president of ACMS Pawan Singh Ghatowar thanked the Chief Minister for taking such steps to bring the development of the community and also for holding a meeting with representatives of various branches of ACMS for the first time.

Minister of Finance, Health and Family Welfare, etc Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Commerce and Industries Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary, Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta, Minister for P&RD Naba Kumar Doley were also present in the meeting along with many other dignitaries, stated a release.
