Commissioner of Excise department: Alcohol prices' hike only 3-8 percent

GUWAHATI: The Commissioner of Excise, Assam has clarified in a notification that the department would hike only 3-8 per cent on the MRP of alcohol that too, on some select brands like McDowell Celebration Rum (4.2 per cent), Officers Choice or Directors Special (8.33 per cent), 100 Pipers, Black Dog etc., (3.33 per cent). He said the reports of a 65 per cent hike in alcohol prices were false.
