Contractual teachers, employees under SSA to get 10 percent DA hike

GUWAHATI: There is good news for contractual teachers and other staff/officers under the Samugra Shiksha, Assam (SSA). They will get 10 percent enhancement of DA (dearness allowance) from September 1, 2022.

In a notification issued by the Elementary Education Department, Government of Assam, on Thursday, it was stated that contractual teachers (contractual and state pool) and other staff/officers under SSA, Assam would get 10 per cent enhancement of DA from September 1, 2022. They will get another 7 per cent enhancement of DA from April 1, 2023. The DA will be released immediately as and when the State Government announces, stated the order.

Contractual teachers and other staff/officers under SSA, Assam have been drawing 17 per cent DA from January, 2022. They have time and again expressed resentment over the fact that while regular teachers and other employees were drawing 34 per cent DA, they were drawing only 17 per cent DA.

The State Government then enhanced DA of the contractual teachers and other employees under SSA by 17 per cent in three phrases – 11 per cent w.e.f July 1, 2021, 3 per cent w.e.f July 1, 2021 and another 3 per cent w.e.f January 1, 2022. Now, contractual teachers and other employees under SSA will draw 10 per cent enhancement of DA from September 1, 2022 and the balance 7 per cent will be drawn from April 1, 2023.
