Three-day teachers' training programme concludes in Boko

BOKO: Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) along with Samagra Siksha Kamrup and Center of Microfinance & Livelihood (CML) jointly organised a three day long teachers' training on Connected Learning Initiative (CLIx) and Technology Based School Intervention (TBSI) in collaboration with Jawaharlal Nehru College (J N College) in the College premises from August 25 to 27. The training was conducted by resource persons Dr Anusha Ramanathan and Amitabha Abhinav (TISS Mumbai).

Dr Anusha Ramanathan said, "This programme is for communicative English and technology-based school intervention. We are doing it with the help of the Center of Micro Finance and Livelihood. We are trying to have it in some districts which give importance to how to use the technology in the learning sector and how you can learn better using technology. It aims at a communicative English component that has been developed as part of a connected learning initiative from Tata Institute of Social Science and MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) in USA are the leaders and this was also a project sponsored by Tata Trust. In these communicative English modules children will listen to stories and record it for better speaking, listen to their own voice and re-record it. This is a technological safe space where they can correct their own and they themselves can judge their speaking skill. If they have stories or words or examples they compare themselves and improve. Through that they develop their confidence, speak English more. From the learning outcomes we come to know that it helps in improving their reading and writing skills. Connected English Initiative has developed certain modules as CLIx modules i.e CLIx english. CLIx modules are like software and can be downloaded from CLIx website and it works offline. With the help of headphones two or three children can connect to one computer terminal with the help of a splitter. The two headphones can be connected and children can listen to it and speak and also record themselves."
