COVID-19 lockdown: Assam Police bringing back stranded students to State

GUWAHATI: The Assam government took up measures to bring back hundreds of students from Rajasthan’s Kota who were stranded due to the lockdown.

A team of Assam Police, on Friday, was sent to Kota by a special flight to escort the students and bring them safely back to the State.

According reports, the team will bring a total of 391 students in 18 special buses. All the students are minors and an amount of Rs. 7,000 has been taken from each student as travel expenditure. The journey is of around 36 hours and both the students and the police personnel will be examined and quarantined in Srirampur or Sarusajai centres on their arrival.

The team is being led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police ADCP (admin) Ponjit Dowarah.
