TINSUKIA: A successful joint operation by the Army and Assam Police against the insurgents resulted in apprehension of 14 persons from six districts of Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Charaideo, Tinsukia and Dibrugarh of Upper Assam.

Of the 14 persons nabbed, three were ULFA (I) cadres, namely Satyav Raj Saikia, Debojit Bora and Bikash Bora, 7 were Over Ground Workers (OGW) - Naren Kharia, Sachin Gohain, Rajat Chetia, Pralay Dekanto, Chandan Handique, Bitupan Duarah and Modon Rajkhowa while four recruits were Anuj Gogoi, Jagat, Moon and Sorif Ali. The seven Over Ground Workers were aiding ULFA (I) cadres by facilitating extortion, movement of weapons and explosives and luring gullible youth for recruitment in the banned outfit ULFA (I).

Young boys from Upper Assam were lured into false narratives and virtual promises which were never fulfilled. Four recruits were rescued from captivity and would be handed over to their parents after counselling by police authorities.
