GUWAHATI: The CPI is going to seek five seats from its alliance partners to contest the forthcoming Assam Assembly election. The six-party coalition comprises the Congress, AIUDF, CPI, CPI(M), CPI(ML) and the GSM.

According to sources in the State CPI, it wants to field candidates in five LACs (Legislative Assembly Constituencies) – Morigaon, Sivasagar, Dergaon, Golokganj and one seat from the Barak Valley.

According to State CPI sources, parleys among the six constituent parties of the grand alliance are set to start by the end of February.
