GUWAHATI: An election review meeting of the CRPF was held on March 15 at the CRPF group centre Guwahati. All the digs and commandants of the NE sector participated in the meeting.
IGP NES stressed upon the need to brace up for the smooth conduct of a credible, free and fair poll. Central Para Military Forces have been deployed in large numbers to ensure a peaceful election. IGP NES has been nominated as the Chief Force Coordinator for Assam and Meghalaya by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
As per a press release, the importance of visibility, mobility, and neutrality of the forces was emphasized upon by the ADG NEZ, SH Arun Kumar Sharma in his address. Basic amenities for the forces to be provided by the state authorities were also deliberated upon. Forces have already started arriving for area domination, flag marches, Naka and intensive patrolling. Past events of the election were also discussed.
