Cycle rally organized to generate awareness among voters

GUWAHATI: In order to generate awareness about voting rights among the people, the Chief Electoral Officer, Assam Nitin Khade flagged off 'Cyclothon for Democracy – Ride to Vote' as a part of SVEEP programme at Dispur Secretariat Field on Sunday.

More than 150 cyclists coming from various parts of the State participated in the cycle rally. The rally was also joined by the State icons of Assam State Assembly Elections, actor Kapil Bora and Para-cyclist Rakesh Banik, who appealed to the voters of Assam to exercise their democratic right to vote.

Among the other dignitaries participating in the cycle rally were Additional CEO Debaprasad Misra, Commissioner of Transport Adil Khan, Joint CEO Dr. P. Uday Praveen, Joint CEO Rahul Chandra Das, Deputy CEO Dimple Baruah, Assistant CEO Puja Punam Gogoi and other officers from Election department, Assam.

The CEO, Assam also flagged off the cycle tour led by State Icon of Assam Assembly Elections and Para cyclist Rakesh Banik who will cycle across Assam to generate awareness amongst the electors. This rally will conclude on April 4 at Boko (Kamrup) after covering most of the election districts, stated a release.
