GUWAHATI: Four crucial Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed by Government of Assam with Walmart, Flipkart and HCL in presence of Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah at the Assam Skill Development Mission's office here on Thursday.

According to an official communiqué, the first MoU was signed by Walmart Vriddhi with the Industries, Commerce & Public Enterprises Department and Skill Employment Entrepreneurship Department. This tripartite MoU has been exchanged for the development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in terms of showcasing and exporting their products and also exchange ideas for successful commercialization of their products by providing them market access.

As per the second MoU, signed between Flipkart and the Assam Skill Development Mission, Flipkart will provide opportunities to youth of the Assam in the Flipkart Supply Chain Operations Academy by training, certifying and creating a pool of e-commerce supply chain talent. They will also get an opportunity to do an on-the-job training at Flipkart and receive a stipend of Rs 17,500 during the training period.

The third MoU, signed between Directorate of Employment and Craftsman Training (DECT) and HCL, will facilitate the employability of youth of Assam under various programmes conducted by HCL. It will be especially beneficial for class-XII-passed students. HCL, in collaboration with DECT, will provide training to the class-XII passed students with the aim of reducing regional imbalance in terms of skilled people.

The fourth MoU between the Assam Skill University and HCL-TSS will facilitate aspirants to join the HCL-TSS skilling and employment programmes and provide mutual support for counselling and conducting assessment of eligible candidates in university campuses or any other campus provides by the Assam Skill University. This is expected to help students from rural and remote areas to get employment opportunities. Speaking at the MoU signing ceremony, Minister Jayanta Mallbaruah said, "Assam has a huge potential in terms of MSMEs and Government of Assam is working diligently for making MSME sector of the State a supreme one."

He also said that under the sheer guidance of the Prime Minister and Chief Minister of Assam, the State is trying all possible ways to implement the concept of 'Ease of Living' by providing adequate employment opportunities in the State. The Minister also thanked Swasti Society which is engaged to implement the Walmart Vriddhi programme launch in India and helping MSMEs to expand their domestic capacities and participate in the global supply chain.

B Kalyan Chakravarthy, Principal Secretary of SEED, Dr Lakshmanan S, Secretary IC & PE, Akash Misra , Director of Flipkart, Subbaraman B, Vice President of HCL Technologies, and Amarnath Sharma, Operations Head of Swasti, were present along with other esteemed dignitaries in the occasion.
