SEED, SSRDPT ink MoU for skill development at Janata Bhawan

GUWAHATI: The State Government on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with M/S Sri Sri Rural Development Programme Trust (SSRDPT) in presence of Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department (SEED) Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah at the Janata Bhawan here.

According to an official communiqué, the trust will act as a consultant to support the Directorate of Employment and Craftsman Training (DECT), Assam to upgrade its skilling programmes. As per terms of the MoU, SSRDPT will be responsible for equipment procurement as required for setting up and upgrading training laboratories, posters and tool kit for laboratories/workshops. The Trust will also act as mentor for entrepreneurship-training programmes.

The MoU has also segregated the roles and responsibilities of the trust and the Government. The trust will conduct training programmes for trainers appointed by ITI and also provide support for trained candidates to get employment. On the other hand, the Government will create awareness about the programme among the State's ITIs. The Government will also provide one officer as Single Point of Contact for all coordination and assistance needed by SSRDPT.
