Drugs seized, two held from Ganeshguri

GUWAHATI: Acting on a tip-off, Guwahati Crime Branch and Dispur Police arrested a drug peddler with a packet of heroin weighing 12 grams from Ganeshguri on Friday.

The accused has been identified as Md Faruk Ahmed (23), a resident of Barpeta district. The police teams also seized a vehicle (AS 01 EM 3155), a mobile phone, and Rs 6,42,500 from his possession.

Following his statement, a woman named Cosmise (37) was apprehended from a hotel at Ganeshguri. During interrogation it came to light that Ahmed came to the hotel to give the seized money to the woman for a drug consignment which he had received earlier.

The woman is a resident of Chandel district in Manipur.

Ahmed also stated that about 15 days ago he received 25 packets of drugs from Cosmise in Guwahati, which he has already distributed. The seized packet was the last of the consignment. Meanwhile, the further investigation is on.
