GUWAHATI: The National Health Mission in Nagaon district has been alleged with embezzlement of Rs. 72 crore in the name of various schemes. A case has been registered at Nagaon Sadar Police Station in connection with the Rs. 72 crore scam of the NHM, Nagaon (case no. 216/2023) under section 406, 409, 468 and 471.

In view of the incident, the Amguri Naba Nirman Samiti also made the people aware of various other crimes or scams taking place in the district of Nagaon. The committee also lodged a complaint to the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell in January regarding this matter, appealing for a probe and stringent action.

According to sources, the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell sent a letter to the Nagaon SP to enquire into the matter and take necessary action. And in this connection, Naba Nirman Committee president, Diganta Saikia recorded his statement with the police.
