Event held in Guwahati to mark 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'

GUWAHATI: The North Eastern Regional Office, Guwahati of Engineering Projects (India) Limited (A Government of India Enterprise) organised an event on Monday on the subject of 'Traditional Folk Dance and Dance-Drama Programme' at the Assam Water Centre here to celebrate 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'.

It may be mentioned that the Central Government has taken the initiative to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements.

The event was centred on showcasing the glorious history and culture of Northeastern India.

Dignitaries including Sunil Deka, Chairman of the Assam Trade Promotion Organisation, Anil Kumar Pankaj, Chief Engineer of BSNL, Paishuni Kumar, Executive Director of FCI, BN Pandey, Executive Editor of Purvanchal Prahari and Ranjeeb Ray Barua, Executive Officer (Technical) of FREMAA were present at the event. The programme started with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by TVN Rao, Regional In-Charge, and the dignitaries. Rao also delivered the inaugural speech and briefed about the importance and objectives of organising the event on traditional folk dance and dance-drama.

Artists from the Sadhna Theater Agency performed the National Anthem, Group Song, Group Dance (Dedicated to Freedom Fighters), Mime, Patriotic Song, Traditional Folk Dance, Group Dance on Vande Mataram and volunteers from Sonapur College also performed a Classical Dance on Patriotic Song, Lalilang Dance and Bihu dance. Shailesh Sharma, Manager (HR) expressed his gratitude to TVN Rao and Senior Management for their kind guidance and support and he, also, showed gratitude towards his committee members for their invaluable contributions to make this event a grand success.

In the closing speech, Shri TVN Rao thanked the dignitaries and audience for attending event and for witnessing the celebration of 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav'. He congratulated the event organising committee.
