Financial assistance under Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme distributed at Kamrup

GUWAHATI: State Environment and Forest Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary on Tuesday ceremonially launched one-time financial assistance of Rs 25,000 under Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme at Kamrup.

Total 62 widows under the age group of 18 to 45 years of the district will be benefitted under the scheme. In addition to that, the minister also distributed cheques of Rs 1 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund to 13 families of the district whose houses were completely washed away during the devastating flood.

On this occasion, a programme was organized at the conference hall, Integrated Deputy Commissioner Office, Amingaon where MLA of Kamalpur, Diganta Kalita, chairman of Kamrup Zila Parishad, Rita Talukdar, representative of MLA, Hajo, ADCs of the district, BDOs of various development blocks of the district were present.

Addressing the meeting, the Guardian Minister of the district, Patowary highlighted various welfare schemes being implemented by the present government led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

"No previous government in the State had taken such a huge numbers of welfare schemes as the present government," he said. He also directed the officials concerned to monitor properly the implementing status of every scheme so that no genuine beneficiary is left out from getting benefit of the schemes. "

Earlier, the live telecast of the launching of the scheme by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma at Tezpur was also displayed in the programme.

On the other hand, the one-time financial assistance programme under Indira Miri Universal Widow Pension Scheme was organized in Kamrup (metro) district as well on Tuesday. The programme was held in the conference room of the Khadi and Village Industries Board at Chandmari in Guwahati at the initiative of the Panchayat and Rural Development Department.

West Guwahati MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, East Guwahati constituency MLA Siddhartha Bhattacharya and Zilla Parishad president Shiromani Konwar formally distributed a one-time grant of Rs. 25,000 to several widows out of 368 beneficiaries of the district.
