Former ADC Saibar Rahman arrested in irregularities in land allotment case

GUWAHATI: Assam Civil Service (ACS) officer and former Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dhubri, Saibar Rahman was again arrested on Monday in a new case, this time related to irregularities in land allotment in Mankachar.

Regarding alleged irregularities in land allotment in Mankachar during 2017-18, the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell (SVC) registered a case (07/2021) and arrested Saibar Rahman from Guwahati Central Jail on Monday. Rahman is already in jail for two other cases – the disproportionate assets (DA) case (03/2021) registered against him by the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell and another case (05/2021) registered against him by the Chief Minister's Special Vigilance Cell related to anomalies in the appointment of gaon burahs. He was remanded to three days' remand of the CM's Special Vigilance Cell. In this case, the CM's Special Vigilance Cell also arrested ADC Vikram Aditya Bora who is also in jail after he was arrested in the case related to anomalies in the appointment of gaon burahs.
