GUWAHATI: Guwahati Development Department (GDD) Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya ceremonially distributed letters of intent (LoI) on Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna (Urban) among the beneficiaries of East Guwahati constituency under Guwahati Municipal Corporation on Thursday.

Addressing the media at the Administrative Staff College, Guwahati, the Minister said, "Till now 850 beneficiaries have been approved under Beneficiary Led Construction (BLC) component of the Scheme. Out of this, 125 beneficiaries have been given the first installment. Fund will be released to the remaining beneficiaries after due land verification and Geo-moderation."

The Minister launched 3 web-based software developed by GMC to make the work of GMC offices effortless and transparent. The softwares launched are

(1) Public Works Management System: PWMS as has been developed, in association with Skaplink Technologies Pvt. Ltd., for monitoring of the different projects that are running in GMC area.

2) Vehicle Tracking System: This system has been developed, in association with Aditi Tracking System Pvt. Ltd. With the help of this system all the vehicles of GMC will have GPS tracking. The GPS-based Vehicle Tracking System will help corporation to properly manage the fleet of vehicles with optimal route monitoring, fuel consumption monitoring etc.

3) File Tracking/ DAK tracking System: GMC has configured and launched the File/Dak tracking system (Request Tracker) for monitoring the File/Dak movement among the branches of GMC offices. The system has the provision of monitoring the File/Dak that is pending to be processed by GMC. The users of the system can even view the Dak in mobile interface and download the same for instant information at any time.

4) Public Feedback regarding Garbage Collection of NGOs: GMC has developed the online service for citizens of Guwahati where one can provide the feedback about the NGOs who are engaged by GMC for regular collection of garbage in door-to-door basis.

The system has the provision of finding the NGOs who are not good in delivering service.

Conservancy

• NGOs will be provided with additional auto tippers and auto vans and more standing compactors will be provided so that the roadside dustbins can be removed.

• Within 2 years Boragaon dumpsite will be completely removed and it will be converted to a beautiful eco-park.

• Material facility Centres will be setup to recover recyclables.

• Metallic litter bins will be installed all over Guwahati.

Streetlights

• Tender has already been floated for repairing and maintenance of streetlights of the main road. All streetlights of lanes and bye lanes will be converted to LED and maintenance will be done by contractor.

• Vehicle mounted hydraulically operated ladders will be purchased to speed up the maintenance process of streetlights.

Mission Flood Free

• Tender for urgent drainage works (Rs 12 crore) under Mission Flood Free has been already floated.

• Fortnightly de-siltation monitoring by GMC official and 3rd party has started. Penalty is imposed where work has not been found satisfactory.
