Government Railway Police ASI Shravan Kumar Jha detained in a gold loot case

GUWAHATI: Government Railway Police ASI Shravan Kumar Jha has been detained in connection to a case where three uniformed men looted one kg gold from a passenger of Rajdhani Express at Guwahati Railway Station on January 17. As per reports, the police have identified two constables who are suspected to be accomplices of Jha. The constables are Tirlochan Bodo from Nagaon and Babul Haque Choudhury from Paneri, Udalguri. Both the constables were residing at Police reserve in Bonipara. According to a police source, on the day of the incident, the three personnel were part of a 9-member GRP team who were conducting routine checks on the train from which the gold was looted. The source also added that the three personnel didn't leave the train with rest of the GRP team on the day of the incident.

In this regard, the victim, Suresh Kumar had lodged an FIR on January 30 and subsequently, an SIT (Special Investigation Team) was formed. As per sources, the detained ASI Shravan Kumar was on-duty on Monday until the dots of the incident connected and directed towards him. Later in the day, he admitted himself at a private hospital following which he was detained by the police.
