GUWAHATI: The Anusuchit Jati Yuba Chatra Parishad, Asom has lodged an FIR at the Dispur Police Station alleging financial irregularities by a section of officials of the Assam Fisheries Development Corporation Limited (AFDCL).

Disclosing this to the media at the Dispur Press Club on Monday, Chief Adviser of the Parishad Rubul Das stated that a head office-based senior official of the Assam Fisheries Development Corporation Limited was indicted of financial malpractice by the corporation's Board of Director's at a meeting on September 20, 2021. The official was accused of embezzling revenue to the tune of Rs. 94,45,375 during 2015-16 and 2016-17.

However, Das said, they have had to lodge the FIR against the officials because no punitive action has been taken against them so far.

Das further alleged that nine officials of the corporation had diverted into their personal bank accounts an amount of Rs. 5,29,85,342 which was allocated under the 'Beel Development Scheme' during 2020-21 and the ongoing Financial Year.

He called for strict action against the errant officials.
