Guwahati Municipal Corporation Conducts Eviction Drive near GMCH

GUWAHATI: The GMC's (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) Enforcement Branch conducted an eviction drive against encroachers at public streets and pavements near the GMCH (Gauhati Medical College and Hospital) on Tuesday.

The team was led by Municipal Secretary and in charge Collector (Enforcement Branch) Aditya Gogoi. Vendors and hawkers were causing traffic congestion as well as inconvenience to the pedestrians by encroaching the streets and pavements. Around 50 vendors and hawkers were evicted during the drive. Also, around 40 MCP (Municipal Corporation Police) personnel were deployed by the GMC in the GMCH area to avoid further encroachment by the street vendors and hawkers, stated a release.
