Guwahati Municipal Corporation demolished Dulal Bora's residence

GUWAHATI: The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Wednesday demolished the house of RTI activist Dulal Bora at Srimanta Path in Rukminigaon.

According to the GMC order, the building was found to have been constructed without permission and also beyond prescribed norms as laid down in building byelaws. However, later in the day the Gauhati High Court (GHC) issued a stay order on the demolition process.

Earlier, another residence of Bora at Koinadhara in Khanapara had also been demolished which was set up illegally.

Meanwhile, the RTI activist is lodged in jail in connection with an extortion case.
