Guwahati Municipal Corporation ends offline application of trade license

Following the launch of multiple online services like online municipal services

GUWAHATI: Following the launch of multiple online services like online municipal services, online instant trade license, online property tax assessment and payment, online building permission system and online project management and monitoring system by the state government, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation in an order on December 11 has stopped the receipt of all offline applications for Trade Licenses for various trades, professions and callings. All Deputy Commissioners of the 6 zones of Guwahati Municipal Corporation and the Health/ Veterinary Branch have been directed not to receive applications off line henceforth. The intending applicants will now be able to avail the online services by logging in to the site at https://gmc.assam.gov.in.

On December 10, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had launched the multiple online services with the aim of providing real-time governance in the state. He also inaugurated service of Super Sucker Machines for Guwahati Municipal Corporation under Guwahati Smart City Projetct and ceremonial distribution of truck mounted cesspool cleaner. The Chief Minister also presented certificates, cash awards and sanction letters to nine urban local bodies that received awards under Swachh Survekshan.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief minister said that the present State government has been persistently working to lend convenience to the people of Assam. To enable people to enjoy government services 24 hours a day, the government has adopted technological solutions which have helped the people to provide transparent, timely and accountable services. He said that from now on people of the state can have services like building permission, trade license and property tax without even going to government offices. He also said that already several services including learners' licenses have been made online. Talking on Mission Vasundhara, which the people have responded very positively, the Chief Minister said that already nine lakh people have applied for the service online. He also gave a brief snapshot of all the steps that the government has taken under the Smart City Project.
