Guwahati Municipal Corporation evicts poultry shops in city

GUWAHATI: The Veterinary Branch of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) collected a total fine of Rs. 79,000 during its eviction drive against illegal poultry shops in the city from April 18 to May 3.

During the raids, the department seized 313 kilogrammes of chicken, 133 kg of fish, 7 kg of mutton and 380 kg of vegetables. The seized items were distributed among various night shelters and children homes. On the other hand, the Hoarding Branch of the GMC dismantled 1,181unauthorized items within the city from April 21 to May 3.
