Guwahati Residents Join Hands With NGOs To Provide Relief To Flood Victims

GUWAHATI: Feeding India, Guwahati Chapter, has started relief distribution by helping 1,000 families with food materials, torches, sanitary pads, antiseptic lotions, mosquito repellent, cloths etc in Morigaon district of Assam, including badly affected Bhuragaon.

This has been done with the help of materials collected from Guwahati residents and more such drives will be carried out in the coming days. This is to be followed by more drives this week and the next.

Volunteers of Feeding India, Guwahati, collected over 750 relief kits, including rice, dal, chidwa, mudi, jaggery, biscuits, water bottles, soap, detergent, antiseptic lotions, mosquito repellent, sanitary pads, torchlight, potatoes, mosquito coils, candles, match boxes and a few essential medicines. The relief materials were distributed along with over 2,000 cloths to the affected people in three to four villages of Morigaon district.

Another NGO, FAsCE India has also distributed relief materials to the flood-affected families. In Jonai, FAsCE India team distributed relief materials among 400 families in Okland, Rajakhana, Rayang, Dharmapur, Surampuria and Kardongsu. In Guwahati, flood relief materials were distributed in SFS School, Narengi to 302 flood-affected families living in slums and low lying areas around the rail tracks of Narengi and Satgaon areas.
