Guwahati: Stolen Goods worth Rs 19 lakh Recovered in Chhaygaon area, One Arrested

GUWAHATI, Jan 17: Stolen goods worth Rs 19 lakh were recovered at Gumi in the Chhaygaon area in Kamrup district by Bharalumukh police on Saturday.

The goods were bound for Silchar. On the night of January 11, 2021, a truck (AS01LC7862) loaded with the goods of BS Logistics located at Glass Factory at Fatasil Ambari here left for Silchar.

According to the police, on January 12, 2021 the unloaded and abandoned truck was recovered at Nine Mile in the Khanapara area. That led the owner of the truck Hem Chandra Bora file a case (37/2021 under section 408/381 of IPC) at Bharalumukh Police Station. After investigation, the police recovered the stolen goods at Gumi. The goods were kept buried under the ground. A person, Faizul Haque of Aag Gumi, has been arrested in this connection. The driver and other accomplices have been absconding.

The recovered goods include 49 cartons of blades, 16 cartons of steel, eight cartons of stationary items, 24 cartons of Shikhar, 126 cartons of soap, ten cartons of incense sticks, one bundle of bed sheet, four bundles of rubber, seven cartons of Zarda, 90 polythene bags, nine bundles of plastic mesh, 79 bags of flour, five bundles of steel pipe, four bundles of PVC and 98 pieces of aluminium sheets.
