Heroin, ganja seized; 5 held in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A team of the West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) from the Gorchuk Police Station arrested a husband-wife duo, Biswajit Das and Munni Das of Hojai, from Katabari on Tuesday evening and seized 14 vials of heroin from them.

Police sources said that two mobile phones were also recovered from their possession.

In another development, a team of the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from the Basistha Police Station raided three paan shops at the Basistha Chariali and Beharbari areas and arrested three persons - identified as Jamirun Nessa, Suruti Begum and & Rukia Khatun, all from Chaygaon. One kg of ganja, a mobile phone and Rs 15,710 in cash were recovered from their possession.
