Indefinite Hunger Strike by casual workers in front of Bijuli Bhawan, Paltan Bazar

GUWAHATI: Members of the All Assam Casual Bill Clerk and Meter Reader Workers’ Association (AACBCMRWA) have started an indefinite hunger strike from Monday in front of Bijuli Bhawan, Paltan Bazar here in support of their demand for regularization of their jobs in the APDCL/APGCL/AEGCL.

In a statement issued to the media on Monday, the Association said, “As many 1,900 temporary employees severing for more than five years were recognized as casual workers. On April 28, 2019 a written test was conducted for the regularization of the casual workers, but the results of the test have not been declared even after nine months. The department has also not announced the number of posts kept reserved for the casual employees.”
