Jishnu Barua to be the new Chief Secretary of Assam

Guwahati: Additional Chief Secretary Jishnu Barua would take over as the Chief Secretary of Assam from next month after Kumar Sanjay Krishna retires tomorrow.

Additional Chief Secretary, Barua is currently the in-charge of home & political, revenue & disaster management, secretariat administration (archives) and border protection & development, implementation of Assam Accord departments. Barua, who is in the 14th spot in the seniority list of IAS officers, is an Assam-Meghalaya cadre IAS officer of the 1988 batch. He will retire on September 2022.

The outgoing Chief Secretary of Assam, Kumar Sanjay Krishna was appointed in December 2019. As he retires tomorrow, Barua will take his oath as the new Chief Secretary of Assam.
