

GUWAHATI: Kamaljit Singh Banyal has assumed charge as Inspector General of Frontier Headquarters, Border Security Force, Guwahati.
According to an official communiqué, Banyal is a 1986 batch officer of BSF cadre, who started his stint in the BSF on August 18, 1986 as an Assistant Commandant. He has vast experience of working at various higher positions at Force Headquarters, Indo-Pakistan and Indo-Bangladesh International Borders, terrorism-prone areas of Jammu & Kashmir and Naxal-affected areas of Odisha. He also had a tenure in the Special Protection Group (SPG). He has also been awarded the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in the BSF.
After assuming charge, Banyal laid stress on the need to develop an effective Border Management Mechanism to prevent crimes along the Indo-Bangladesh International Border, involve locals in border guarding and strengthen the cordial relationship between the Border guarding forces of the two neighboring countries and need to promote a sense of security among the people living in the bordering area.
