GUWAHATI: Preparations are going on in full swing by the Kamrup Metro District Administration for the third phase of the forthcoming polls which will be held in the district on April 6.

There are four constituencies under Kamrup (M) – 51-Jalukbari, 52-Dispur, 53-East Guwahati, and 54-West Guwahati.

8,000 polling officers have been deputed for the four constituencies which will have a total of 1,707 polling stations.

Due to the COVID-19 situation, each polling station will have a limit of 1,000 voters.

While 2,02,400 voters will exercise their franchise from Jalukabari, 4,06,556 voters will cast the ballot from Dispur, 2,36,281 voters from East Guwahati, and 2,92,131 voters from West Guwahati.

It is to be mentioned that 125 polling stations will operate with only women staff and 18 model polling stations have also been set up.

Following the code of conduct, the district administration has already removed around 23,000 banners and hoardings of various political parties and government schemes. In every constituency, the district administration has formed 12 flying squads with three-members each, and 12 static and video surveillance teams.

Meanwhile, the Exercise Department is keeping vigil and conducting raids across the district. The district administration stated that as per the code of conduct no person will be allowed to carry more than Rs 50,000 without valid documents.
