Kamrup Metro DTO Creates Public Awareness On Road Safety, Stages Street Play

GUWAHATI: In order to create public awareness about road safety, the Kamrup (Metro) District Transport Officer (DTO) has taken a Nobel step.

As a part of the awareness program, DTO Gautam Das arranged a performance of street plays on the busy roads of Guwahati.

The DTO once again appealed to the people to avoid drunk driving. He also made an appeal particularly to the picnic parties not to let their drivers drink liquor under any circumstances.

"People should obey road safety norms. It would save a life. No one should mix drinking and driving," he said.

Take a look at the video to understand that how much pain and sorrow could cause by a road accident to anyone apart from the loss of life.

In the video circulated by DTO Das on social media, it can be seen that a woman is crying aloud as her husband was hit by a vehicle.

The drive of the vehicle is drunk and hence the accident occurred due to his recklessness. The video is of a street play enacted under the aegis of the DTO.

Earlier in 2020, the Excise department has brought 250 alcopatrol – a breath analysing device that can detect consumption of liquor, amount of liquor consumed and the amount of fine to be charged from one foot away from drunkards within five seconds.

The device that has been brought from a Hong Kong-based company can also give the print with details as it has a thermal printer attached. The device can do all such wonders only from the smell of liquor.

The device has been distributed among the district Excise offices. The entire process has been done under the aegis of State Excise Commissioner Rakesh Kumar.
