GUWAHATI: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) on Monday held organizational meetings in various Legislative Assembly Constituencies (LACs) of the State with a view to bolstering the grass-roots level strength of the party.

Simultaneously, the party also launched a membership drive and a fund collection drive across the State.

AGP general secretaries Ramendra Narayan Kalita and Manoj Saikia said to day that the party achieved noteworthy success in several recent elections. From the bottom of their hearts the people of Assam want the AGP to be a strong force, they said, adding that the drive to enroll new members has been launched with this factor in mind.

The AGP is also gearing up to perform well in the forthcoming Deuri Autonomous Council election, the panchayat election and the Lok Sabha election, the duo said.

As per the directive of the central committee, all LAC committees of the AGP, along with fraternal units, organized meetings today. The meeting at Bokakhat was attended by party president and Cabinet Minister Atul Bora, while the meeting at Kaliabor was attended by working president and Cabinet Minister Keshab Mahanta.

Attending the organizational meeting at Jalukbari, party general secretary Manoj Saikia urged party workers to stand by the people in order to strengthen the base of the AGP.
