Licences on the cards for Guwahati city bus conductors

GUWAHATI: The District Transport Office of Kamrup (M) will soon make licences compulsory for city bus conductors in Guwahati.

Enforcement Officer Himangshu Das said that conductors are the persons who technically lead a bus and the need to be licensed professionally for the work. As such, no conductor will be allowed to work in a city bus with a licence.

The DTO of Kamrup (M), Gautam Das said that as per the Motor Vehicle Act,1988 city bus conductors must have a licence. The department will start issuing licences after arranging a training programme for the conductors. Fines will be imposed for any violation of this rule once it is enforced, Das added.
