Man commits suicide after being robbed by son in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A sensational incident of a son drugging and robbing his own father, leading the latter to subsequently commit suicide, has come to light in the city.

According to police sources, one Bul Das of Nathpara in Bapuji Nagar under the Noonmati Police Station, was injected with a drug in his sleep by his son Rubul Ali on January 19. Taking advantage of his mother's absence at that time, Rubul Ali then stole Rs 3.5 lakh in cash from the house and decamped along with his wife. Bul Das had kept the money for medical purposes, the sources said.

When Bul Das' wife Sahara Begum returned home and found her husband in an unconscious state, she rushed him to a hospital where he regained consciousness the next day.

Tragically, Bul Das was unable to bear the shock and hung himself from a tree on January 21. The police sources said that a case (18/2023 u/s 326/397 of IPC) has been registered in this connection, adding that Rubul Ali and his wife are yet to be traced.
