Massive Fire Breaks Out at Noonmati in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A massive fire broke out at Noonmati in Guwahati after a cylinder blasted at a tea stall owned by Naren Baishya. The incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon. 

The fire was doused after few hours by fire officials. Tea stall has been completely gutted by the fire. 

Fire incidents are happening at an increased frequency in Guwahati. In May during the early hours of a fire broke out in Guwahati's Pandu neighbourhood, causing extensive damage. 

At Joymoti Nagar, a fire sparked by two-cylinder explosions completely destroyed three residences. Residents in the area summoned the fire department and police after this terrible tragic incident occurred at 2 AM. Initial reports indicate that at least ten lakhs worth of damages have been reported.

The families were saved by the local youth from the neighborhood, who also attempted to recover important belongings and documents. Following that, six fire tender teams went to the scene to put out the flames. A team of police officers is on the scene where the horrific incident took place to inquire deep into the situation.

On February a massive fire broke out at the Central Mall in GS Road in Guwahati. According to the Fire and Emergency Services personnel the fire broke out from the kitchen area of the Underdoggs Sports Bar and Grill around 5:25 am.

The department said that the bar has been completely charred.

In the same month another incident occurred when a major fire was averted when a sweeper detected a fire that broke out in a room of the PA of GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) Commissioner around 7:55 am.

The fire broke out due to a short circuit and was later doused by firefighters.

In December 2021, a massive fire had broken out at Jalukbari. The fire had occurred as a result of the cylinder blast.

As many as 8-10 cylinders had blasted at the site; at around 12:30 pm. The incident had taken place in front of the Jalukbari police station. Over 70 houses were gutted in the fire.
