GUWAHATI: A day-long meeting, chaired by Assam Director General of Police (DGP) Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, was held on Saturday at the DGP office, Ulubari in the city. The meeting was attended by high-level police officers of the State, including Special DGP, GP Singh, Guwahati Police Commissioner Harmeet Singh and Special Director-General of Police (T&AP), LR Bishnoi.

In this first of its kind meeting, trajectory defining topics related to uplift of Assam Police were deliberated. Among many topics, five topics got the highest importance for improving Assam Police drastically. They are – pendency of cases; chargesheet rate; conviction rate; case disposal rate; and reducing descrepancy between court-police records.

In this meeting, a district-wise ranking system based on overall performance in key indicators was initiated. Four districts were declared as top performers for this year. They are – Bongaigaon, Goalpara, Barpeta and Lakhimpur.
