Khanapara Meeting Discusses Quality and Safety of Milk & Milk Products

GUWAHATI: The first meeting of the State-level Joint Coordination and Monitoring Committee (JCMC) was held under APART Dairy Development on Tuesday at the conference hall of the Directorate of Dairy Development, Khanapara.

The meeting was chaired by the Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Government of Assam, on behalf of the Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, Government of Assam, and was graced by the Joint Secretary, Additional Director and other officers from the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Department, and others. The committee discussed various issues concerning the quality and safety of the milk and milk products produced by the informal dairy sector in Assam. The meeting decided few important points for addressing the human health risk that may occur due to consumption of unhygienic milk and its products, and the possible steps to be taken towards mitigating the same, stated a press release.
