Mysterious death of woman at Gauhati Medical College & Hospital

GUWAHATI: A woman named Ayesha Khatoon was found dead inside a bathroom at the Gauhati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH) on Sunday, with injuries to the back of her head.

According to police sources, Khatoon and her husband Abdul Mutalab had come to the GMCH on February 7 for treatment of the three-year-old son, who is suffering from cerebral palsy.

The sources said both the parents were missing from the hospital after having a quarrel at around 9 pm on Saturday.

Cleaning staff of the GMCH found Khatoon's body this morning after a bathroom, which was locked from outside, was opened.

Investigation is on, the sources said, adding that the child will be looked after by his grandmother until his discharge from hospital.
