National Education Policy 2020: Government colleges not to hold entrance exams in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: Following the announcement given by Gauhati University regarding the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, several government colleges in the city have decided against conducting entrance examinations for their graduate courses for the 2023–24 educational year.

The new regulations mention that the specialisation or honours subjects will begin in the third semester only, with the first two semesters dedicated to the basic subjects. Admission to the specialisation courses will be based on the candidate's performance in the first two semesters. Admission to the first semester of the courses will be based on the results of the previous examinations.
