NDRF distributes relief materials to needy people at Katamura, Changsari in Kamrup

GUWAHATI: During the COVID-19 lockdown, the movement of common public is restricted and at times they require assistance. Being a humanitarian force of the country, the NDRF endeavours to mitigate the sufferings community during any calamity.

On Thursday, rescuers of 1st Bn NDRF Guwahati, under supervision of Sanjeev Kumar Sinha, Assistant Commandant distributed food to more than 500 poor people at village-Katamura, Changsari in Kamrup. The poor people are generally contractual labourers from different parts of Assam. NDRF rescuers distributed food to these people in collaboration with a Hotel of Guwahati.

Rescuers of 1st Bn NDRF carried out area sanitization at various locations – Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Office Guwahati, United India Insurance Company Limited Bijoynagar, State Bank of India Branch Bijoynagar, Azara police station & Krishna Kanta Handiqui State University, Guwahati. The teams sprayed out disinfectant consisting of Sodium Hypochlorite in public places.

During the programme NDRF rescuers of 1st Battalion NDRF Guwahati emphasized the social distancing, hand washing, use of sanitizer and follow lockdown against the pandemic spread of Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), a press release said.
