NGO 'Fairytale Weddings' felicitates women achievers in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: 'Fairytale Weddings'- a city-based unique and exceptional non-government organization formed by a group of selfless women activists in arranging a suitable match that too without any fee or remuneration - synchronizing with their first Foundation Day, organized a day-long detailed programme at the Durga Mandir conference hall at Basistha Chariali here on Thursday.

Axam Xahitya Xabha vice-president Mrinalini Devi, actress of repute Chetana Das and vice-president of 'Aparupa Foundation' Rosy Ahmed graced the function as guests of honour. To mark its first Foundation Day, the organizers felicitated five promising women for their contribution to society. They are promising entrepreneurs 'Home Maker turned Home Baker' Subhalakhsmi Kataki of 'D JONAKs', writer Manisha Sarma, social activist Namita Das, Staff Nurse Bipanchy Talukdar of Guwahati Medical College & Hospital for her selfless service during the COVID-19 pandemic and actress Bhranti Medhi.

Mrinalini Devi and Chetana Das felicitated them with a Bihuwan, a Sador, a letter of citation, a memento and a bouquet. In the function, Barbie Medhi was awarded with the best performing member of the NGO.

In the well-attended function anchored by Rinu Borthakur, Brinda Parashar, a Class-V student, enthralled the audience with her melodious presentation of two modern songs. Ruksana Ahmed, a promising artiste, performed a Xatriya Nritya. Earlier, Manjulika Singha, a founder member of 'Fairytale Wedding', in her welcome speech explained the aims and objectives of the NGO in detail.
